If it was possible to leave less than a 1 star I would..my brothers and I came in here on a pleasant Friday evening after driving a long 4 hour drive. When we sat down, it took 10 minutes to receive our menus. 20 minutes to receive our drinks. We did not get one refill, other than when I asked for a pitcher of water, and was told they didn’t have one.....after all of this, it took almost an HOUR to receive our food. Our waitress, the young gentleman with the stache, only came to our table a hand full of times and never asked if we needed refills...I’ll definitely come here again because it’s one of the only places to eat in Big Rapids. But this was a bad experience..):
The decor is nice...the food not so much. Ordered the pork chops and they were hard and dry. Only beer and wine, so when I ordered a virgin drink they could not make me one...disappointed. Was back to try again and ordered their steak dinner and it too was awful...wont waste my time or money again. If they have live entertainment again, I'll eat first before I go. 😔
Good spot for a burger and brew before or after the game. Go Bulldogs!
Great Beer and a very convenient location, food came out fast and staff was really knowledgeable.
Nice atmosphere but very slow service.
We were waited on right away, however when we received our food half of it was cold, some of our food was not cooked entirely, I was given the wrong kind of potatoes and overall it was not a very good experience, I would not recommend going.
Absolutely terrible experience. Sat down and after 15 minutes of waiting for our waitress, we flagged down another to take our drink orders. Finally our waitress introduced herself and took our food orders. Food took over an hour to get to us, only for it to be cold. Some of the people in our party were missing parts to their meals and others were missing their food entirely. It took our waitress over 4 trips to finally bring out everything we ordered. I would not recommend this place to even the worst of enemies. Don’t waste your money at a dying chain with terrible food and even worse service.
This place is pretty mellow feeling. I went here late at night because I was hungry and passing through on my way home. Their food was delicious though I did not partake of the beer. Will definitely have to check it out again.
We have been here several times over the 5 years we've lived in Big Rapids. The food, beer, and service has been inconsistent to say the least. One time the beer and food may be good, but the service is bad; another time the beer was bad, but the food was good, etc. This last time, we ordered two beers and some food. We received our beers in large, half full glasses, which made it seem like we were paying $6.50 for a half glass of beer. Bad perceived value. One glass was poured significantly less than the other. We tried to flag down our waitress, but couldn't get her attention, so we flagged down another waitress and cancelled our food order. We decided to just pay for our half glasses of beer and go someplace better. We are done with Crankers and their poorly managed restaurant.
Great menu choices, clean and friendly atmosphere. Love the coney dogs too!
Our hockey team was in town for a tournament and we chose this restaurant to have a team lunch. They were great with the service provided and they set up a special buffet for us that was great! We would definitely recommend coming here to anyone in the area. Not to mention, they offer a good selection of craft beers.
Typical American fare, great place to have breakfast, open and friendly atmosphere, food is consistent. Don't hesitate to stop by this Place for a quick bite to eat at a reasonable Price .
Great food and decent service
My 1st experience here over 2 months ago was good. But on my last 2 visits for dinner I was very disappointed. They were out of meatloaf , brisket and pulled pork. Both times there was no good explanation of why and not even a I'm sorry were out of what you would like. This place is missing the mark and could easily be the best place in Big Rapids if they up their food quality. The beer is great they just need to work on their food issues. I hope the owners see these reviews and make some changes.
This place is amazing. My family and myself loved every moment of being here. The best brews.
The food is really good we enjoyed every last bite. Extremely friendly host and staff. Patrons are very friendly as well
Always good quality food i would bring my whole family there.
My wife got the chicken dinner basket. It was very bland. I got the all you can eat fish. The fish was greasy (had a puddle of grease on the plate) the service was very poor. My wife had to tell the staff to restock the salad bar.
The service was horrible. They were out of everything, cole slaw, potatoes, etc..By the time they got my husband some mayo for his burger, it was cold. There is stuff on the menu that they dont even have anymore and made attempt to cover it, cross it off, etc..The ONLY reason I gave it 2 stars is because my philly was really good and so was the pear cider.
Was great to get out and share dining experience again.
Just stopped in for beers. Great selection and most that we tried were really good.
Good food - Great staff
Good breakfast good service
Great food great service.
My omlett was good. My friends pancakes were awful. They were chewy and tasted like crayons. It takes awhile to get your food so be prepared it's not quick like a normal coney would be. The waitstaff was nice and friendly.
Great service, Nikki was awesome taking care of us. Food was delicious, cooked properly and well priced. Definitely if in town again would not hesitate to dine here again.
Best waitresses ever! They help each other all the time which equals better service and Kelly is always smiling and joking. Brandy always pitches in where needed and we love her too. Consistently great service and food makes them #1.
Great location. Service was fast and friendly. Food was a little expensive but good. Nice beer selection.
I would recommend this place, brisket was great ,great service and comfortable
Love the place but the service and time waiting is just absolutely unacceptable. Do not go here unless you have three hours to waste on dinner with maybe one drink served due to poor service and slow kitchen.. even with 3 tables in the place.
This review only applies to Cranker's bar side. I have been a few times and the difference between the diner and bar is pretty stark. The most recent of times will probably be the last unless going for a couple drinks or a show. The design is fabulous, but the service and food is unfortunate. I'm hopeful there will be a change, as I believe dining and shopping local is of immeasurable value. I have yet to find something non breakfast related that is enjoyable, and typically have to run up to the bar to get my own drink once or twice a visit. As it stands, I can't recommend it, but it brings me no joy to review Crankers as such.
Once seated it took 15 minutes for anyone to wait on me. My waitress was nowhere around. Finally another waitress noticed that I was still waiting and her customers, who were behind me, were already being served. She took my order and expedited it. I was apologized to by her and another waitress for their lack of attention. My original waitress never really stepped up. The food was good coney-style diner food, but the experience was lacking.
Best food in town dinner or breakfast! Affordable and great service! Highly recommend the mac and cheese or brisket!
Good food, great staff at an affordable price.
Tuesday night. Its was slow, and so was the service. Great food, great beer.
Went back here after several bad experiences to see if things have improved. We ordered two glasses of Ambrosia beer and a pizza. Our beers came in large glasses that were only half full and mine was significantly less full than my fiance's. The beer was good this time, but because of the inconsistency of the beer pours and getting a poor perceived value and the inability to flag down our waitress to tell her about it, we cancelled our pizza order, paid our bill, and went to Gypsy Nickel instead, where we always get a good all around experience. We are done with Crankers and their poor service and inconsistent food and beer quality. We won't be back again.
I visited here on a Sunday afternoon at roughly 3 pm. There was no host so we sat ourselves. We sat in a booth and were immediately greeted with menus. Service was excellent and attentive. I ordered the salmon burger which was very juice and had phenomenal flavor. The mac n cheese was by far the best part. Music selection was wonderful as well. Would definitely recommend and definitely go back again
As a resident of Big Rapids I am sad to say I am very disappointed in one of there few downtown restaurants. When we first walked in to the establishment it was very confusing on where we were supposed to sit as the "hostess stand" was further back in the restaurant. When it came to looking over the menu there really wasn't anything that stood out to me and when I asked the waitress what they are known for to get a better idea on what to order all she said was that they were "known for their barbecue sauce" which didn't really help my decision at all. When our food came out it was definitely nothing special, our hot dogs were cold, our pizza was burnt, and our waitress was very absent when it came to receiving the bill when we were one of her 3 tables. I am sad to say but I will not be returning to Cranker's Brewery.
Flaming cheese is amazing! Yum!
My wife and I came in for our anniversary for Prime Rib (as advertised) and they didn't have it.. so we opted for BBQ combo insteadThis one item was 19,99 and the portion was so small my child would have still wanted McDonald's afterwards.. BBQ was delicious but portion size was not worth the charge.... Needless to say we left after paying a large amount of money and we were still hungry.. last year was a great experience this year we were so disappointedI'm not too sure if we will be back
Very slow service and the last 2 times we have been there and ordered off the menu it was cold. The Sunday buffet bar is pretty good.
We went for the all you can eat fish on Friday evening and the fish was very good. The waitress was very nice but definitely lacked customer skills as she never came back to offer more fish. I could have flagged her down to get more but then where is the customer service? Very disappointing experience but this was the restaurant and NOT the brewery. Next time I will try the brewery and see if that's a better experience.
Very nice bar area. Great beer selection. Very friendly staff and very helpful.
We have had breakfast & dinner here when visiting Big Rapids. Love their breakfast omelettes. Dinner menu is large with a variety of cuisine. Greek, Italian, American & Mexican dishes, sandwiches, salads.
Terrible service, terrible food. Overpriced, hour+ wait times and cold. Avoid.
Coffee was basically hot water. Pointed it out to the waitress. Was given an excuse of the machine measures out the coffee grounds. So just asked for a water. Ordered food. Pancakes were crunchy and flat. My over easy eggs had a yellow greasy film on them. Went to eat and found the whites on the inside were not cooked all the way. Was given more excuses. Was told that was an over easy egg. So overall if you enjoy water for breakfast this is the place to go.
The food was fresh and homemade. The beer was perfect. Nikki was very informative on the menu and the beer to help with our selections. First time there, and will definitely come back again.
I thought their pulled pork over the macaroni it was Pogie something away it was the bomb!!
Brandi is the best server. This is the only reason they are getting stars at all. But the problem is the food. I've been going here for about 10 years with family and the portion sizes have been almost cut in half. They recently halved the menu and it cut out even simple meals like chicken strips and fries. The corn beef hash was almost $5 for a coffee cup saucer size plate with a thin layer. The fries were a very small portion (about a fast food small) they were cold on top of being a $2 up-charge vs the homemade chips. Where have you ever been that charges extra for fries with a sandwich? The place is VERY loud and if anyone brings in a kid, everyone has to deal with the screaming sounding like it is right next to you.
